Careless driver kills Cyclist (AGAIN!)
63 year old Dr. Ronald Fronczek, a local optometrist, was struck from begin as he rode wesbound on US 70 near the top of the San Augustine Pass. According to Sun News Article, Larry Houck, 42, was not cited, not even a traffic citation.
Houck, a Lieutenant in the military and firearm instructor, told the police he (nor his teenage son riding shotgun) did not see Dr. Fronczek. In the article, Lt. Garcia not only display’s his ignorance of the law, he publishes misinformation about the accident. His words for cyclists?: ”There’s an important message for bicyclists here,” Garcia said. “It is recommended that bicyclists visit their local bike stores for brochures and information on recommended routes of travel, instead of riding on open roadways.”

Costumed Halloween Ride
We will be riding around in our costumes for Halloween this Sunday. We are going to be meeting up 8pm at the Rio Grande Theater in Downtown LC and ride towards Mesilla Park with the goal of cruising that neighborhood and scaring some kids. Just joking, maybe just scare them with our costumes
. Please join us and invite people, the more the merrier. We will be cruising slow (really this time) because of costumes, so any one on any bike is welcome. We might end up at an establishment like High Desert but not til after we return to the Downtown area.
Tour de Las Cruces
Last minute info!: 5th annual Tour de Las Cruces is THIS Sunday
Begins at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at MountainView Regional Medical Office Building at 4351 E. Lohman. Check-in and registration starts at 7 a.m. Two routes offered: 25 or 62 miles (mainly flat with some rollers). Preregistration: $35 (includes lunch, t-shirt if received by Oct. 15 and water bottle). Day of event fee: $30 (no t-shirt)

Friday night cruise
Urban cycling cruise tomorrow night (7/23), anyone’s welcome. Meet up at 8pm downtown near the Rio Grande theater. Wont be too fast or long, maybe 10 miles, just a chill ride anyone should be able to handle. Hopefully it will have cooled off by then. The more the merrier so invite yo friends
